1) Make a Contribution

It's easy and convenient to donate online to ALC through Network for Good - click the icon:

Support from individuals, foundations, and corporations is crucial to our nonprofit adult literacy efforts. In addition to the volunteers needed for tutoring, funding provides free books and other materials for students; hardware and software for student learning, assessment, and data reporting; rent/utilities for council offices; Internet/e-mail/phone services; volunteer tutor training; and staff/volunteer inservice training. We have a number of options for our donors.

ALC will gladly provide a copy of its 501(c)(3) determination letter, its most recent IRS Form 990, or any other financial or program information you may need for your donation. Please write to us at info@arkansasliteracy.org or call us at 501-907-2490 or 800-264-7323.

Donate by Check or Credit Card:
Please call ALC at 501-907-2490 or 800-264-7323 if you would like to donate by using your credit or debit cards. We can take your information over the phone. ALC assures donors that all information provided is guarded and secure.

Bequests and Memorials
Supporting ALC through estate planning and other similar gifts is welcome. We appreciate families who have asked that memorials be made to ALC or their local literacy councils in honor of loved ones.

Direct Deposit via Checking or Savings Accounts
Donations can be deducted automatically from your checking or savings accounts at your convenience. Please e-mail us at info@arkansasliteracy.org or call us at 501-907-2490 or 800-264-7323 for more information.

2) Volunteer
Readers age 18 or over who have the desire to tutor another adult one or two hours a week - or even a few hours a month - can make a huge difference as a volunteer adult literacy tutor or as a volunteer in other capacities for his or her local literacy council.

Volunteer tutors are trained to work one-on-one with adults who are reading below a fifth- to eighth-grade reading level. Tutors and students can meet at the local council or anywhere in the community at any time of day.

In training, volunteers learn how to work with adults who need to read better and / or learn English as a Second Language (ESL). If you want to become an ESL tutor, you only need to know the English langauge and have a desire to help the student.

To request a referral to the literacy program closest to you, please send an e-mail to info@arkansasliteracy.org. We will send you your local council's contact information and copy that council so they can get in touch with you as well.

Or, you can contact your local council directly by using the search features at the "Local Programs" tab on this Web site.

3) Donate In-Kind Goods or Services
Supplies and equipment that would help ALC and other literacy programs are always appreciated. If you have a specific donation in mind, please let us know about the possibilities.

THANK YOU!
