
Rick Spurr
Rick Spurr is a retired railroad engineer. He originally started his college career hoping to obtain certification to teach music, but his life led him in a different direction. Now that he is retired, he has time to help teach even though it isn't music that he is teaching. He enjoys reading and loves being able to give the gift of that enjoyment to others who struggle with reading.

Breanna Styers
Breanna Styers is a single mother of a young daughter. Breanna has struggled with learning all of her life. She was given extra help all through school from kindergarten until she dropped out after her 9th grade year. Breanna originally came to the adult education program in Ozark but was referred to the literacy council for one-on-one help with reading. Breanna continues to make progress in her basic reading skills. She hopes to become a veterinarian's assistant.
Michael Malkin
Michael Malkin is a tutor for the Franklin County Literacy Council. When Michael moved to Ozark, he was very interested in volunteering his time with a service organization. He was referred to our program by the local library. Michael donates his time to helping people who want to learn to read or improve their English speaking skills. One of the things he considers a great accomplishment is that one of his students received her citizenship last fall. He continues to work with her to improve her English. For his hobbies, Michael likes to play Scrabble, study astronomy, numismatics, and photography. He also knows the Hebrew language.
Kongsavanh Inphouva
Kongsavanh Inphouva is of Asian descent and has lived in the United States for a good while but decided last year that she wanted to obtain her citizenship. She worked diligently with her tutor, Michael Malkin, until achieving her goal in the fall of 2008. But Kong didn’t stop there. She has continued working with her tutor to improve her Basic English skills.
